Bostons Depth Neutralizes Dallas Star Power

Boston's Depth Neutralizes Dallas' Star Power

Celtics Dominate Mavs in Game 2

Celtics' Depth Proves Too Much

The Boston Celtics' depth proved to be too much for the star-studded Dallas Mavericks duo of Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. The Celtics held Dončić and Irving to a combined 37 points, well below their combined average of 54 points per game in the series. Jaylen Brown led the way for Boston with 22 points, followed by Al Horford with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Celtics Grind Down Mavs Bigs

In addition to their dominance in the backcourt, the Celtics also controlled the paint, outscoring the Mavericks 50-34 in the paint. Porzingis, who was acquired by the Mavericks in February, made an immediate impact off the bench with 20 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Celtics' superior depth. The Celtics' big men, led by Horford and Robert Williams III, held the Mavericks' bigs to a combined 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Mavs Leave Points on the Table

The Mavericks also struggled to convert from the free throw line, hitting just 21 of their 31 attempts. In contrast, the Celtics were 17 of 20 from the free throw line. The Mavericks also struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 11 of their 33 attempts from three-point range. The Celtics, on the other hand, hit 16 of their 38 attempts from three-point range.

Celtics Seize Control of Series

With the Game 2 victory, the Celtics have seized a 2-0 series lead. They will now have the opportunity to close out the series at home in Game 3 on Wednesday night. The Mavericks will need to find a way to generate more offense from their stars and improve their defense in the paint if they want to keep the series alive.
